Jervis Bay Wedding, Australia

Wow, I just don’t even know where to start with this one! In October of last year I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Fiona & Tom in Australia to capture their absolutely incredible antipodean wedding. Tom’s a fellow professional photographer so the pressure was on to capture some gorgeous shots - I think we achieved and then some. The venue was The Woods Farm at Jervis Bay, a short drive down the coast from Sydney and what a treat it turned out to be: a real working farm in a forest clearing and nature reserve only minutes from the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches, I literally couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting. There were cows, llamas, goats and more on the farm as well as wild kangaroos and exotic birds to name just a small selection of the wildlife - galahs, Australasian swamp hens, rainbow lorikeets, they all popped by to wish the couple well, and many many more. Needless to say the sun shone and we were outdoors. The surrounding greenery played it’s part perfectly and it was impossible not to take some glorious photos.

Fiona got ready at the lakeside boathouse with her girls and bridesmaids while Tom went for a dip in the sea at Hyams Beach in the morning (as you do, amongst the dolphins!) Fiona’s dress was made for her by a friend and she looked just amazing. Tom scrubbed up equally well in his tweed jacket and they made a perfect couple. Their beautiful ceremony took place in the ‘chapel’ amongst the trees, piped out by Fiona’s dad in his full kilt ensemble to the drinks reception. Shortly after we hot footed it back to the beach for a few portrait shots before heading back for food and speeches. We danced the night away, again outdoors and underneath the stars and it was just the perfect end to the perfect wedding.

AND THEN… The following day we headed back up the coast to Sydney itself where we had a very quick session underneath the Harbour Bridge at Milsons Point. The views across the harbour are every bit as stunning as you would imagine with the Opera House peaking out and dozens of boats passing by every minute. Thank you so much Fiona & Tom for inviting me to travel half way round the world to document your amazing wedding, I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. I’m already saving up to go back and see more of Australia, it’s such an incredible country filled with the best people (just like you two) - congratulations!
