East Yorkshire DIY Wedding

Sophie & Brendan’s DIY barn wedding took place in July last year at Sophie’s family home at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor in East Yorkshire - a gorgeous part of the world featuring some beautiful countryside and endless views to die for. Sophie, a dress maker and seamstress by trade, handmade her beautiful wedding dress along with many of the gorgeous decorations which adorned the house, barn and garden. It was a more casual than formal affair, with Brendan opting for a collarless Grandad type shirt and trainers but it was very personalised to the couple with stylish branded merch popping up everywhere from food menus to beer bottle labels, posters and much more!

After getting ready alongside her bridesmaids and mum at a Yellowtop Country Park lodge Sophie arrived in style in a gorgeous white vintage Jag to the awaiting guests. Unfortunately the rain put paid to plans for an outdoor ceremony but after a very quick rearranging of the furniture we relocated to the cover of the stretch tent. It was a beautiful humanist ceremony in front of nearest and dearest featuring beautiful readings from Sophie’s bridesmaids and a whisky filled quaich before  celebrating with drinks and nibbles in the barn and garden.

After a few family photos we had a quick walk over the road for some portraits in the fields amongst the East Yorkshire countryside before heading back to sit down for the speeches. A delicious meal followed before an outfit change for both (of course!) and party times galore. We danced into the darkness, indoors and out, in the rain and the dry and partied to Daft Punk to see the night out. What a day, what an amazing couple and a fabulous group of friends and family. It was a such an amazing occasion and one I was really glad to be part of. Thank you so much for having me along Sophie & Brendan!
