Gwyn & Steve had the most magnificent September wedding last year at Wakefield’s Hepworth Gallery. Gwyn is a designer and maker in Leeds and she hand made some of the most beautiful decorations and table settings. Coupled with some absolutely beautiful floral arrangements by Sarah at Leafy Couture and the Barbara Hepworth sculptures it made for one of the best dressed wedding venues I’ve ever seen. The gallery is such a perfect spot for photographs; it’s huge windows and light space highlight it’s angular interior and makes for some beautiful compositions. I thought I’d died and gone to photographic heaven!
Gwyn arrived with her daughters and best woman in a cream VW camper van which we also used as a photo opportunity throughout the day with much success! Her beautiful dress was made by the very talented Anita Massarella who lives locally. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing several of her wedding dresses in the past and they are always just out-of-this-world stunning. Gwyn wore hers beautifully showing off her detailed laced sleeves and back. Steve and all the guests arrived on a vintage double decker bus round the other side of the gallery. Their ceremony took place in amongst the sculptures on the upper lever of the gallery with their guests seated amongst the works of art. We hurried outside for some outdoor shots before heading into the gallery’s conference room which had been transformed for the day into a dining room with it’s stunning views over the river Calder. The gallery cafe turned into the reception and party area where we danced the night away to a live band and DJ. The Hepworth takes on a completely different atmosphere after dark and it was amazing as Gwyn and Steve and all their guests danced the night away. What an incredible day it was, thanks so much to all involved!
