York Covid Wedding

Well, 2020’s been a bit of a funny one hasn’t it? Obviously you don’t need me to tell you what happened with regards to the Covid situation but suffice to say Steph and Ben’s plans for their big day changed more than a few times. Their original date in May was postponed and the venue needed to be changed but eventually we went ahead in July with a beautiful Covid secure church ceremony and small reception afterwards in York.

It was the most beautiful of summer days in Aldwark where their ceremony took place at St Stephen’s church. Steph looked absolutely incredible in her gorgeous dress and Ben wore his wedding suit very well indeed! Guest numbers had to be reduced for obvious reasons but all the important people were in attendance including parents, grandparents, best men and bridesmaids. Steph arrived at the church in an amazing vintage Volkswagen Beetle with her brother who walked her down the aisle. Everyone except the couple, vicar and a select few wore masks during the ceremony (a rather funny sight) but it was a beautiful occasion nonetheless. They said their I Do’s and signed their marriage certificate in front of friends and family before heading outside for confetti and pictures.

Afterwards we headed to Villa Farm in York for a delicious outdoors (and Covid safe!) picnic and champagne where we celebrated with good company and some more sunshine. Steph even had time for an outfit change before Ben did a wonderful speech and his brother in Australia even delivered his via video FaceTime. We took some lovely portraits in the grounds of the farm then carried on the party into the evening. It was such a perfect day even though it wasn’t what Steph and Ben had originally planned. Covid may have had a minor part to play but it absolutely didn’t spoil the outcome - I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to photograph. Thanks to all involved for making it so fantastic and congratulations to Steph & Ben for defying all the odds and going ahead with their beautiful wedding!
